Jo Rademakers
Director of LIBIS, the Belgian library network
Jo Rademakers has a master in quantum chemistry and joined LIBIS in 1996 as a programmer, later project manager. In 2000 he became head of LIBIS, the library automation center at KU Leuven, the largest and eldest university in Belgium. He is responsible for the management of the central library applications at KU Leuven and the management of a scientific and two public library networks (serving over 120 libraries).
He is responsible for numerous projects on different aspects of library automation: document delivery, digital libraries for iconographic material, union catalogues, institutional repositories, and innovative user interfaces… Important areas of interest are the co-operation between libraries, archives and museums, long-term preservation and streamlining work processes.
