Alexander Sotnikov

Deputy Director of the Supercomputer Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Prof. Alexander Sotnikov is a Deputy Director for the Supercomputer Center of the Russian Academy of Science – the biggest and most powerful Russian Computer Center for Science and Education.  He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Russian National Library Resources.  During the past several years, prof. Sotnikov has been leading the efforts of the Russian Academy of Science in the development and utilization of databases, Web based technologies, and Digital Libraries.

Prof. Sotnikov is the program director and supervisor of the Russian Scientific Heritage Digital Library project, which aims at archiving, preserving, creating and maintaining library collections, associating different types of digital resources, and making knowledge free.
